    The exam takes about 10 minutes. Please allow 45 to 60 minutes for your entire visit.

  • How to prepare for a bone densitometry test

    It is important to stop taking calcium and vitamin supplements at least 24 hours before the bone density test. In order not to skew the results, a two-week waiting period is required before a bone density test if you have undergone the following tests: barium meal, barium enema, small intestine tests. This period is seven days in the case of a nuclear medicine test.

  • How is a bone densitometry test performed?

    You will be taken to the examination room, where you will be asked to lie on your back and remain still. The device will move over you to collect data on the part of the body being analyzed. It is important to follow the instructions carefully in order to perform the examination correctly.

    The report will be sent to your doctor within the priority time frame established by internal policy.
